“If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?" or can it be repaired No and yes
If your car is paid off...yes they will total it. My brother in law is an adjustor. if it is not...maybe. Depends on your company. Going into this process DO YOURSELF THIS FAVOR. TOTAL UP HOW MUCH MONEY YOU HAVE SPENT ON INSURANCE PREMIUMS ON THIS CAR. Got it? Write that number on the wall in plan view when you can the adjustors each time. Send emails and save copies to a file folder. That number is what you have paid in and will make you fight for your money back out of them. Don't forget to include things link window tint, paint treatments, recent repairs,etc.. Hopefully you have comprehensive coverage. Find out the KBB value on your car ahead of time to know where you stand. Good luck. Keep us posted.
thanks for the comments so far. The rear surprisingly looks fine aside from the window. The biggest damage is the roof itself. all the doors still functional. no hood damage. heres another picture.
Crossed my mind too: it's a shame to "total" a car for cosmetic roof damage alone. The flip side: maybe there's more, maybe the shockwave did something to the roof pillars, or even the suspension, on the way through the car. A thorough assessment will hopefully get done.
Whenever I see an old 1980's Toyota Truck, it reminds me of my brother-in-laws who had one he loved and was just going over 300,000 miles on her when he got t-boned and totaled it. He's still mad about that.
