Okay my mechanic thinks they found the source of my hatch leak in my 2007, which was causing water to pool up underneath my 12v battery. Please be kind, as I'm just learning, but would this be any easy fix that I could do myself? Really not wanting to pay that much for my mechanic to do it. What exactly would it entail? Could someone walk me through it? "Technician found that rear spoiler assembly is missing bolts and water is leaking through one of the bolt holes on rear hatch. Technician is recommending removing spoiler, resealing spoiler bolt holes and re-installing all the bolts then re-test for any further possible water intrustion."
The body seam between the roof and the C-pillar is a known leaking point. You can seal that up with some silicone sealant; loosen the black "drip rail" plastic trim on the roof where it meets the hatch opening and you can see where the metal panels meet.
Wouldn't gamble a re-test, but check for leakage at the bumper cover fasteners as well. Many threads on water intrusion, just a search away. The walk through would be the same as a simple DIY 'license plate light bulb replacement', except you may need additional tools. Let us know if you need assistance in finding a video or one of the threads here. The advance search feature is working again. Unless you're having heavy condensation issues, just remove the plug(s) under the 12v (and opposite cubby) and the water will drain out. Which part of the state are you nearest (profile reads California ), as another member might be able to offer help.
Apparently there's a rubber bung under the battery. If you're happy to let the water run off, rather than finding + fixing the source of the leak, just remove the bung
