Part 1 I'm getting dizzy trying to figure out what cable and software and who currently carries it. I have a 2005 Prius ~ Windows 11 ~ 64 GB Part 2 This p1377 code is sucking my soul.. The only code is this p1377 The only light on dash is the yellow with circle brake Checked fuses Swapped capacitor (TWICE) Changed connector (looked a little rusty from water leak) Actuator i changed last summer but hearing that humming and rarely a chirp when i push super hard on brakes. im so open to advice and suggestions....thanks
For the cable you need Mini VCI, OBDII J2534. I purchased mine through Amazon for $30.12 The easiest way to get Techstream working on Win 7~11 is by following the instructions at this link. This includes a virtual machine with the preconfigured Teachstream (already registered) and it's free. 5 min to Download + Install Techstream V12 VMware for VXDIAG Toyota | OBDII365.com Official Blog
What on earth is telling you there's a P1377 code? There is no such code listed in a Gen 2 repair manual (at least a 2006 edition)? You have a brake warning light, and have done a bunch of brake work, but what brake system trouble code(s) do you have? Codes from the brake system will be C (chassis) codes, not P (powertrain) codes. There is a C1377 code reportable by the brake system, that involves the capacitor module. Is that the code you actually have? If so, it might be helpful to edit your post and title (or ask a mod to do so, if your edit time has passed).
That is what I use now too. The only issue I have had using it is that sometimes the VirtualBox image does not see the miniVCI cable unless I unplug it from the laptop and then plug it in again. There were a few issues during the install of VirtualBox itself, where it wanted some python bits and a VisualStudio runtime installed. Just google the error messages when they pop up and you will find the solutions people have posted.
I find if I plug in the VCI cable into the PC before starting Virtualbox and image that it connects every time, but like you saw, if you plug in after the image is running you might have to unplug/replug.
