Should I get the dealer extended warranty?

I am looking for opinions! Our 2007 Prius died on Friday after 303,800 mostly trouble free miles. We looked into lots of options, and decided to buy a used Prius Prime Premium. We got a 2017 with 60,000 miles on it. The dealer wanted $2500 to extend the warranty and it would cover absolutely everything. My husband said no. Should we have gotten it?

I think it was for an additional 60,000 miles and would cover all the computer stuff. We figured it would give us an additional 4 - 5 years. As far as the old car, it pretty much died. The P lock mechanism was not working for a long time, then the vsc light came on, braking was very hard and the car shut off. I got it started again but didn't want to drive it so I had it towed to the dealer. For $150 they started diagnosing, said it was a bad hybrid battery and maybe that was causing all the codes, but the transmission could be bad too. More diagnosing was going to be $1000 and they said repairs could go up to $9000 or more. So we said STOP and we donated the car to the local public radio station. We looked through all the paper work we saved over the past 15 years and figured beyond normal maintenance, we probably spent no more than $225 per year on the car. It served us well.
