My Mom's 2015 Mazda CX5 with 55K miles had a transmission die this week, and the dealer said that they can't get one to replace it. So I took her to the Toyota dealership to look at a Rav4. She thought the Rav4 was too big and ordered a Corolla Cross having never seen one in real life (they didn't have any on the lot but she wanted the car problem solved solved ASAP, and I know better than to tell her what to do).

While there I told the salesman that I drive Priuses and that I'm ready to buy a Chevy Bolt EUV but can't find one available. He pulled up his inventory system and did have an incoming 2023 Prius (cutting edge XLE) on the way, expected to arrive in 8 days, and no one had their name on it. He said that they are selling at MSRP, however they uncharged my mom quite a bit on protectants, etc. (again, she doesn't listen to me). I want to see it before I buy because I am afraid that since it got smaller it may be too small for me.

Anyway, that was in Greenville NC, so it didn't take too long for them to get here (assuming that the car he was showing me was REALLY going to be here next week... who knows). Hopefully they will be abundant soon.

 

I requested a handful of dealers in states around me to give me a heads up when the get a Prius. One just called me and said that they had 2 on their allocation and should get them in the next ten days. They are also charging a 10k up charge. That seems to be a bit above the norm from what I have been seeing on here. I have been on the list since the car was announced and this is the first heads up that I have gotten, so I’m fairly confident that they are giving accurate information.

Most dealerships around Charlotte NC 28105 are showing 2023's arriving to dealerships either end of this month or early March.

My dealer notified me they got their first allocation. The market adjustment they are advertising is $3k. But remember, you don't have to just accept their asking price. You've already been waiting this long already so if you're willing to wait a little longer, just make an offer and wait for them whenever they are ready to take it. Do your part to get these nasty market adjustments down!

 

You can always do what I plan doing. Get whatever color I’m lucky enough to get, and wrap it. I’m sick of Grey, Silver, White, and Black, and let’s face it, Prius has never come in great colors. This will be my third Prius and I’ll do a wrap with a JDM color, like that awesome yellow they get over there.

Unfortunately, this is not a buyer’s market. The cars are just now being released, and there are more potential buyers for this new model than there are vehicles. I’ve been waiting over a year for a new Prius, Lexus 450z, or Genesis GV60, and will buy whichever comes available to me first. It it’s I ER sticker, oh well, that’s what I’ll have to pay if I don’t want to wait another year.
