I am looking for the part number for the two ("2") hood stops on my 2006 Prius (AKA Gen2). Ribber is missing from one and other is very beat up. I would like to purchase rubbber separately from the adjustable bolt. I have attached a pic of the hood stop. Let me know if you have a source or part number for this item.
Parts catalog Figure 53-04, Front Fender Apron & Dash Panel, shows the cushions, Toyota part number 90541-15021, attached to the upper radiator supports. Your photo, however, shows one of the screws for the front bumper cover. See catalog Figure 52-01, Front Bumper & Bumper Stay, part number 53119-47010. These are the type of parts you get when you regularly visit wrecking yards or people parting out cars... Once you're aware of available resources near you, you'll be sure to have all your minor car parts replaced for next to nothing in terms of costs. Finding parts like these online or new are a waste of money.
Hey Elektrogenieur, many thanks for figuring out the part that i was looking for (namely, 53119-47010) which I referred to as a hood stop.
Here in the Northeast, land-of-road-salt-and-rust, these two hood stops (AKA Radiator Protector P/N: 53119-47010) were both so rusted that I needed to use extraordinary means to remove them. Essentially the hood stop assembly is an M6 bolt with a phillips head end with a rubber cushion surrounding the phillips head portion of the bolt. I first tried using a phillips bit in my Milwaukee M18 1/4" drive impact; result: three ("3") broken phillips head bits (all quality bits destroyed)*. Then, I removed the rubber cushion from the hood stop and used vice grips on the phillips portion of the bolt to finally remove the hood stop. The removal of the rubber cushion and vice grips really munged-up one of the hood stops. Hence the need for a replacement. The surviving hood stop was reinstalled with anti-seize on its threads to prevent this situation in the future. When I attempted to remove the hood stops on a Prius at a local pick-and-pull, they were even more rusted into place. And, thus I passed on the pick-and-pull hood stops. For Prius Chat members in areas with minimal rust, these bumper stops are a good pickup when sourcing used Gen2 parts but not here in the land-of-road-salt-and-rust. *- clearly, the steel in the hood stops is well tempered as the bits broke rather than the hood stop's phillips portion. The broken bits were Milwaukee bits (which I consider to be top quality). PS I am attaching two pics from ebay advertisements for P/N: 53119-47010 so that all can get a better view of this small (but annoying) part. I purchased this part at a local Toy dealer for about $10.
@ydpplqbd -- did your bolts have nuts on the other end? Mine do, and they're rusted to the bolts, making them very difficult to remove -- I can't get at the nuts to immobilize them, and when I use Extraordinary Means to turn the bolts, the nuts move with them, so the entire assembly below the bumper cover starts to bend instead of the bolts actually coming out. Did you have to deal with this issue, and if so, do you have any advice? Do you happen to know the nut size? I have so far been unable to finagle a wrench in there, but maybe if I knew what size I needed... It seems odd that all the photos of the replacement part I can find online don't include a nut.
Sure wish I had a box of these as they're missing from people's cars often... Does anyone know of a less expensive alternative that would work the same way?
