    @Bill Norton

You would be surprised and no ethanol doesn't evaporate all that quickly. I suspect gm is cheap and lazy and greedy and they also don't want vehicles clogging their parking lots. They actually lost the class action law suit on one of the oil burner law suits they had last year

Upper Engine and Fuel Injector Cleaner: for some reason they also sometimes use this but its really a fuel injector cleaner

I'm good with using e85 though. Relatively low risk, a bit slower, and cheap and easy. Some of those cleaners are expensive and nasty. As far as I can see the car doesn't even burn a measurable amount of oil on the dip stick anymore. We will see at 5k when i can drain it and record it to the ounce.

*A guy at O'Reillys I was telling about the e85 piston soak when i was doing it told me about the top engine cleaner they used when he was at GM as a mechanic. He said that it would smoke when they would pour it in and one time he looked at it up close and when he breathed in it kinda burned him. I was like damn... lol

We and our friends have more than a dozen. They all get an engine and rear brakes at 190K. Then they get a hybrid battery at 220k. Most get an EGR cleaning and oftentimes if the oil burning was bad they need a catalytic converter. The 2010s and 2011s and the 2013 Prius v get a brake booster accumulator and master cylinder. Radios get replaced somewhere around the same time. Shock struts and sway bar links and straight sway bar bushings also get replaced around 200K which is probably too late it should always be done sooner. Seems like the whole car is pretty much due for replacement at 200k. The good time to sell one would be at 160K. A bad time to buy one would be at the same time

2014 Base Hatchback (117k miles) here. Bought new, changed oil 5k intervals. Changed 12v battery 3 years ago. Changed out transmission lube at around 75k (yes, a little late). Just swapped in new EGR cooler and EGR valve. Also replaced spark plugs, engine and inverter coolant. Looking at replacing water pump, just to be proactive. Still on original brakes. Traction battery is at about 70 percent. Car is hopefully good for another 117K miles! Best car I've ever owned!

2012 Gen 3 coming up on 250k Kms now. Oil consumption is gathering pace and a possible small coolant leak. Just did 1500kms in a week of touring over in England/Wales and it was faultless. Owes me nothing so I'll run it until it dies

Did you totally clean out the small passages in the intake manifold?
Some think that is where the problem lies. Uneven distribution of the EGR gases plays hayl with the head gasket,,,, or so the theory goes.

Having the EGR cooler choked down should just limit the total flow, but evenly.
Just like unplugging the EGR valve will stop all the EGR flow, which should not play hayl with the HG, is another theory...

No leak visible but have had to add 1 litre in 8 months. No fouling of oil visible either. Oil is 0W 30 but not sure of brand of oil or filter. 16k km change interval.

It's worth doing a piston soak and enging oil flush, has worked wonders with mine and wife's prius...at 250,000 and 360.000 miles and neither is using oil.

No kidding. Piston soak is magic. My old high mileage fleet burns so much less oil I think i have reduced my household emissions ironically. lol

Can't believe this isn't on a sticky on front page.... This has to be the cheapest and easyest way to make your car last longer with less problems.

    Got at 214k
Water pump alerts at 220k or so. Cleared code didn’t replace. Eventually replaced when it came back. Probably caused head gasket to fail.

did head gasket, paid machinist to clean head and put in new valve seals.

Used total seal felpro head gasket with felpro studs.
Ultra sonic Cleaned injectors, egr system, intake manifold, pcv replaced and added catch can.

did inverter pump. Ordered wrong pump when I ordered water. Did trans fluid.

replaced sway bar bushings and end links up front.

did struts up front. Got cheap eBay set clunking like old ones in 1k miles stiffer springs are nice though.

rear wheel bearings twice. Bca makes trash bearings do timken.

Bigger friend over extended and ruined a rear seat belt are these covered by Toyota?

great car daily beater for me. No oil consumption that I can see. Walmart 5w30 synthetic oil changes.

261000kms. It just passed its NCT, which is the Irish roadworthiness test, with flying colours. Not a single issue. Amazing engineering
