I have an intermittently failing 4 button Multi-Function Display on my Prius 2009 - with 9 speaker/Bluetooth option part (86110 47210). Some posts on this forum and some sellers on eBay indicate that the 86110 47230 part may be substituted if you don't care about Bluetooth. 1. Is this safe? Can damage occur to the boards? 2. Will the stereo still work? If not, is the power supply board on the 47230 part swappable with the power supply board on the 47210 part? I think the caps are failing.
Here is a similar thread that I looked at. MFD compatibility | PriusChat It does not address my question about the 6 vs 9 speaker difference. The 47210 part is for 9 speakers (JVC) and the 47230 is for 6 speakers apparently, so I am concerned that the radio would no longer be controllable. Any thoughts?
Me again. Success! I have substituted the MFD 86110 47210 (9 speaker, Bluetooth) part with MFD 86110 47230 (6 speaker, not Bluetooth) and everything works fine (without BT obviously). The stereo (JBL under passenger seat) is controllable the same way, I guess the signalling is compatible. Just confirming in case anyone else needs to do this. I may re-attach my old Bluetooth board later.
the headunits are all basically the same boards inside 07-09, I've used 07 boards on an 09 (not the mainboard) and they work fine, including the screens.. the bluetooth will even work on non bluetooth Cars, but you don't have a microphone so its kinda dumb.
