2015 Prius Two: The Immobilizer System Indicator continuously flashes after I turn off and get out of the car, and shut the door. It does this every few seconds. Is this an indication of a problem? Thank you!
Googled my question. My apologies for not having done that before posting to this forum. The answer: It signals that the anti-theft system is engaged.
It's been a feature since the very earliest car alarms and immobilizers, where the blinking light is supposed to say to a would-be thief "hey, this car has an alarm or immobilizer, go steal that one instead." Of course these days the thief is choosing between cars that probably all have their little red lights blinking, so probably is going to choose based on something else.
