Does a 2015 prius need a hybrid battery fan filter?

Later models include one. Probably better to call it a screen than a filter. It's a simple pop-on, pop-off thing. Not sure if retrofit is possible.

I put a piece of window screen on the back of the plastic grid at the duct inlet (on backseat back on our 2010 Prius hatchback). Secured it with a couple of (hardly noticeable) black thread loops through the grid.

I didn't want to put something super fine, to where it might affect airflow. It's also kind of canary-in-coal-mine: if it's getting dust maybe time to dig down to the fan again. I've done a complete cleaning twice IIRC, and it wasn't bad at all, light dust on the squirrel cage fan blades.

The screen on ours is much like a nylon stocking stretched over a circular plastic hoop maybe 60mm across. The hard plastic hoop pops off the cage blower inlet. A look at the parts diagram shows that the blower assembly was changed for 2017.

We've never found anything more than a fine layer of dust or lint on it with annual checks on our 4 year old car.
