9/28/22 : my car passed inspection.

11/30/22 : had four spark plugs replaced, oil changed, headlights restored, and replaced right front marker bulb.

12/7/22: car was parked in the dark facing a storefront; saw right headlight go out, come back on. Then a minute later left headlight went off and immediately flickered back on.

    12/7 through 1/3/22:
front left light flickers intermittently, goes out once or twice (don't drive much at night so took a few weeks to tell for sure).

1/4/22: noticed back left parking light bulb out, took to garage for replacement.

Despite describing the front issue, the garage called and said "we turned on the lights and they all work." (Hence intermittant). This seems to have occurred almost immediately after the headlight service on 11/30. The guy said the front and back are on two different circuits so the rear brake light was unrelated. However, I don't know if something got loose or un-grounded in the front that suddenly the left headlight is bad? When I complained, he reluctantly said they would check the wiring which I believe they did through the hood--definitely did NOT go in through the dash.

I need to call tomorrow and don't know whether I should insist the 11/30 buffing and parking light replacement had something to do with the left being out now, or if it's a complete coincidence that suddenly a bunch of lights are having problems.

As someone who has owned a G2 for 14 years I can tell you the light bulb sockets fail. They get over heated burnt and corroded. They will last a long time like this but if you disturb them for a rebulb like you did they will be nothing but trouble. The corroded connection will fail. The shop did nothing wrong but unplugged a rotten connector.

The dealer sells those sockets I will look for the part number but I used Autozone sockets and just butt spliced them on to the harness and they lasted years till I sold the car years later. Common socket.

Its a real pain in the butt to rebulb the front headlights its really tight in there its almost a blind install a keyed bulb then have to snap a wire holder over it...it sucks...unless you remove the front bumper and take the entire HL assy out which is the way to go. Its easy to remove the front bumper you just have to have the side bumper locking clips in hand because they will snap off due to age when you pry the bumper off.

These are the clips there's a left & right here's just one side:
