    This is a confusing video. Maybe Japanese model has Prius tires with Prime interior. I don’t recall seeing that drop of about 4-6 inches in the cargo space during the US reveals of the Prius. Maybe I missed it.

    The Matrix had a nice hatch area, at least the earlier years with the deck and rear seat backs all durable plastic, with ridges running longitudinal. With the back seats flipped down it was a veritable cargo van, everything flat and flush.

    here the backseat’s up, but they flip down dead-flat:

    Okay, the 2023 manual shows three different options for under the cargo floor tray:

    High options:
    1. Spare tire with white organizer pieces surrounding it that hold the jack and tools
    2. Type B white organizer(deep) - appears to be the most common - shown in all the USA XLE/Limited videos

    Pros:
    - flatter floor when rear seats are down
    - shorter lip under rear hatch to make loading/unloading easier
    Cons:
    - less total cargo space
    - cargo floor is not flat left to right; there are low pockets behind each wheel well

    Low option:
    3. Type A white organizer(shallow) - shown in the Japanese video above

    Pros:
    - more cargo space
    - flat floor from side to side
    Cons:
    - uneven floor when rear seats down
    - deeper lip that items have to be lifted over

    Sorry I meant to say the car in this video has Prius hub caps. The Prime hub caps are a different design.

    I strongly doubt it, other than ordering the other version and installing it ourselves. We'll know for sure once parts.toyota.com is updated with the new parts list. Best just to take deep breaths and wait for all the info to be available.

    And a fold-flat front passenger seat back that doubled as a work surface.

    There was also that underfloor storage bin immediately behind the rear seats.

    Mine wasn't AWD, but I can't think of any reason to have a different interior. I don't think the FWD and AWD Sienna does.

    The HHR also had the front folding front seat; nice for hauling long things like lumber or pipe. The HHR also let you mount the cargo floor higher up to make a shelf.

    @bisco the changes going to an AWD Matrix is the IRS (double wishbone) as stated above and a slight hp/tq reduction due to repositioning the exhaust pipe. 123hp vs 130hp and 118lb-ft vs 125lb-ft. In Canada, "Base 4WD" & "XR 4WD" models got standard ABS (opt on XR FWD, not available on base FWD) and automatic transmission. It was a $2,200-$2,670 upgrade for the AWD models (if you compare it to the automatic FWD models)

    Don’t think so. Most Matrix I recall seeing back then were FWD models. $20k for a base AWD was quite expensive (but still cheaper than an Impreza I think) and if you wanted the XR 4WD, it was running into Camry money at $24k. A fully loaded Corolla LE Pkg B was $23k for reference. (Leather, moonroof, 6-speaker audio)
