The Prius Liftback (not sure about AWD-e) has a place for the spare. The Prime does not due to battery encroachment over that chassis area.

In Canada, commencing in 2019, there's four Prius options. There's a regular and all-wheel-drive Prius, and each comes in base or "Technology" level. Only the base two-wheel-drive version now has a spare, the other three: the goop/compressor kit.

Checking local dealerships, they're awash in Primes, have just a few Prius, and last time I checked none were base. So basically, right now at least, I couldn't buy a Prius with a spare.

I don't know if they're going to "come to their senses"; don't much care any more. Will stick with my 2010 at least till the next gen, and if it carries on this way, will either continue to wait, or buy something else.

If I'd have known that our Prius did not have a spare tire, I really wouldn't have bought it. We have bought three of them over the years. All except the one we have now had spare tires. I have bought my own spare tire to take on our trips.

Yeah "spare tire?" is a good entry to have on your new car check list these days. If more people do this, I've got a hunch spare tires will make a come back...

That's one reason (of several) I won't be buying a 5th gen in Canada; none of the levels available will have a spare.
