Would seem fun to track whom is able to pickup the first 2023 Prius at a dealership right :)
January is just around the corner so someone should be picking one up soon I figure. Not a clue if one can go into a dealer and order one (inferring the dealer has access to vin# on cars arriving).

Also wonder how many LE trims will arrive or if Toyota will push higher trim models to dealer first. Not able to build one online today, was able to do so yesterday. Also cannot find a brochure to download on their site...sadly.

Thinking the only option one could add to the LE trim might have been a homelink rear-view mirror well plus hood film which I like. Door trim/hatch film also an option though figure better to get their rubber trim piece for the back hatch.

Guardian Gray LE with the light white/gray fabric interior could work. Course no power driver seat/heat and small nav screen plus no rear cross traffice alert I think. Had black fake leather one one before but that had the blue/green color on the outside so it did not feel that back. Gary paint and black interior just feels too dark overall for my taste.

Also read, maybe on the toyota site, the LE key can unlock only the driver door (wireless maybe you call it) which is good enough...at least better then nothing right :)

Toyota dealerships around here are, still, showing slim-pickings unless you have $60K to buy a Tundra/Highlander. For Prius, it's saying to contact the dealer so, hopefully, they are allowing pre-ordering them.
YouTube reviewers have been allowed to drive the new Prius around...you can definitely hear the difference in that new 2.0 liter ICE engine and I'm digging the all-new dash/interior.
I'll be stopping in my dealer soon to pick up a part for my Tundra...I'll go ask a salesman when they are getting the new Prius.

My dealer didn't even know what the interior color options were going to be in mid December, it seems that they don't have information, and I doubt theywill actually arrive in January, at least in the southeast.

:) I read an article on CNN indicating that car manufacturers are prioritizing higher trims because more affluent people are the only ones who can afford new vehicles now, and they tend to perfer higher level trims.

I'm with you, I perfer an xle and I would be fine with an LE. But I'm cross shopping several vehicles and it is the same story across the board. 1. Hybrids are badly delayed presumably because of a lithium shortage and 2. It's very hard to get a lower trim. Oh yea and msrp markups and waiting lists, don't forget that.

The best advice is to wait if you can.

My deposit is down for an LE in specific colors. Theyre charging 36000 for it but whatever. Let’s see how long it takes to get me what I want.

Production only just started, and the first ones are going to Japan. Took a couple months after release in Japan before the US got any with the gen4.

Actually you can search all kinds of import/export's there. Have fun

I put in my deposit for a 2023 XLE. Tried 4 dealerships and they are all adding market adjustments over MSRP. The dealership I ended up with was +$3000 for all trims. The highest quote was +$6000. I don't like it, but can't argue with supply and demand. Either pay up or wait forever because someone else will pay. They really have no idea how long or short the wait will be yet, but I'll update here when I hear something!

That's nice! I just put in a deposit with +$5K for the XLE just two days ago. Where's your dealer?

And how to track the car to know when it arrives at my dealership? I'm paying rental for $50/day so the sooner the better for me.

Faulkner Toyota in Harrisburg PA = MSRP for my LE - picked it up last Saturday, first aid kit, rubber floor mats and parking assistance, color door edge guards and most importantly $479 xtra for red - $29,479 plus tax. Put a deposit when I was notified that the car was alloted to that dealer, took 7 weeks from then to get.

It’s not always the most accurate, but there is this website where you can track the status via VIN:

    Toyota Tracker

I was given a VIN (not temporary) on March 4th and mine still isn’t showing up there nor on the dealer’s website yet, so I’m not sure what is happening with it. It’s making me anxious. Hoping for an update within the next week before I end up contacting my poor sales rep again. Haha.

So far, I'm very happy w/ my purchase. I typically stay away from anything that's a first generation. I know this is G5 but there's so much that is way different than the generation before it. Also, if there's a time to get rid of your used car before it, now might be that time you're looking for. Coincidentally, at the start of Covid, we bought a Hyundai Ioniq with only 700miles on it. No idea why somoene bought it and then sold it back to the dealer w/ so little time/miles. The car was great but in the 35kmiles we had it, it had electrical issues 3x. The dealerships could never really find the cause. They simply unplugged/checked all connections, cleared the codes and went back to normal. The codes were all over the place too. Sometimes it was ABS, sometimes general computer codes. The week before the Prius arrived at the dealership, the interior lights on the Ioniq were randomly turning off/on. Luckily, the Prius arrived and the dealership called me b/c my name was on the waitlist.

For the purchase, the price was MSRP but then the dealership tried to add 12k of overpriced "packages" onto it. I won't line it all out here but I pushed back and didn't have to pay 4k for window tint. Finally everything was agreeable and I got the car.

Here's a post about the "bad", so far. In quotes b/c its not bad per se but just not the greatest.
