    Hi all,

2009 Prius with 175xxx miles. Consuming a quart of oil per 1200 miles approximately. Going to install oil catch can to see if it helps/for fun. Can people please confirm my understanding or correct me if I have something wrong?

    - the pcv valve connects to intake manifold near the throttle body by a single hose
    - oil catch can should be installed in line between the pcv valve and the intake manifold - intake from pcv out to the manifold

My plan is to connect 3/8 transmission line hosing material to pcv valve, then connect to oil catch can, then connect to the manifold from the can using the existing hose. Does this sound like a suitable procedure? If not I welcome advice. Thanks!

Not sure but think with gen 2 PCV routing (starts atop valve cover) there’s much less need for OCC?

BTW: do be very careful if unscrewing the PCV valve. If you use an open jaw wrench, when you break it loose it’s very prone to punch a hole through the valve cover. Safer to pull off PCV hose first and use either a deep socket or closed-style box wrench.

Sounds ok. It's the same setup I put on my 06. Doesn't do too much though. Maybe 6 oz of spooge in warmer months. Lots of condensed water in colder months. (have to drain it at 2.5k or it will be completely full of water).

Still have oil pooling in the intake. And most of your oil consumption is likely stuck oil rings on the pistons anyway.

    Have fun.

Thanks for the replies! I’ve already replaced PCV - will hold off on the OCC for now. Did my spark plugs and new o2 sensor yesterday - I bought this car on FB marketplace and there are all types on “interesting” things missing - EG one coil pack was missing a gasket and there was a spiders nest in there. Gonna post a thread with some questions about disconnected wires and other weird things I’ve found
