I just finished installing the Vais SLX and XM Direct tuner. (Thanks to BobR for telling me about the Vais unit. The radio sounds great, and I've got 16 character display!) When I first started the car after the install, the red triangle appeared. I shut it off and restarted it with the same result. A quick check of the ScanGauge showed no codes. I spent no time with further troubleshooting due to the late hour and chilly temperature. For the install, as part of removing the dash piece with the Park button I disconnected an electrical connector on its back side. I assume the wiring for that connector runs to the Park button. I will check that connection tomorrow to make sure I reconnected it securely. The only other connectors I deliberately messed with were for the radio. Any other theories as to what might have happened? Thanks in advance for any assistance.
When I installed my Sirius solution I had the same problem. I freaked out, until I realized that I was checking the system with the door open. I don't normally drive forward with the door open, but seemed to put it in drive while checking out the radio. David

I see you've ordered your ScanGauge. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(dbotello @ Dec 31 2006, 10:48 PM) </div> Yeah, I've done that before. But the door was closed. And that triggers an error message on the MFD, which this did not. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(galaxee @ Jan 2 2007, 11:32 AM) </div> I've heard that before, but it didn't surface from my subconscious mind at 11:00 pm after working on the job all day and on the car most of the evening. Before I tried starting the car again (the third time) the next morning, I found several reminders during a PC search for possible causes and solutions to my problem. BTW, do you or hubby know why that is? <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(bhaynnes @ Jan 2 2007, 12:36 PM) </div> Amen! Divine intervention at its best. Well maybe not its best, but pretty darned good!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(JimboK @ Jan 2 2007, 01:02 PM) </div> I will have to check it out sometime. And yep, I ordered the ScanGauge on Friday morning. The newest version has changeable back light colors, so I won't have to deal with the orange. I'm eagerly awaiting its arrival.

I created an account just to reply to this to say THANK YOU for posting this all the way back in 2006. I just installed a new radio in my wife's prius for her bday and was testing it out and got the same triangle. So I came inside to research and saw your comment. I went back outside, closed the door, started the car, and the triangle went away! I probably would have ended up taking the radio back out and putting the factory one back in if I hadn't saw your comment! hahah..
