Fixed P0A93 now P1121 is showing up

    Does anybody have any knowledge on this? Do i just replace the Coolant flow control valve? Can this Code be caused by not bleeding the coolant?

    yes the coolant control valve is usually the problem when that code comes up. They fail over time

    ok sounds good. thx for reply. do you recommend getting OEM coolant control valve or should I stick to aftermarket? Also is it bad that i drove the car with this problem for about 10 miles? Also quick question if you don't mind. Gen 2 prius engine runs a bit louder than most prius correct?

    Also, even though that valve is part of the engine cooling system, while the pump that you may have replaced for P0A93 is part of the totally-separate inverter cooling system, that pump and that valve are located near each other, and you could have disturbed the wiring connection to the valve while fussing with the pump.

    I would probably check that before grabbing my wallet to go buy a valve.

    The coolant control valve will not disable your car. It is used mainly to provide heat for your car when you want the heater on. With the check engine light on, you won't be able to pass a CA smog check, because it's an emission issue. So driving 10 miles or 10000 miles, won't do any harm to your car.

    The engine should not be any louder, it should be similar to other 4 cylinder Toyota cars.

    What the valve's officially there for is to manage the storage of hot coolant in the car's thermos in between drives.

    But it does have to be in the proper position for the cabin heater to work, so if it happens to get stuck in the wrong position, you could end up finding yourself without cabin heat. If you live in a cold place, that might be of more concern; in LA, maybe not so much.

    thx for the reply, and yeah its super hot over here so i dont think i have to worry too much. but yeah ill go ahead and check the wiring rn.

    thx for the reply, ok sounds good. Im going to check the wiring rn and ill go from there. And yeah no need for the heater rn when its like 100 degrees.

    update: i fixed it like 2 months ago and the p1121 code has been gone. never showed up. I purchased an oem coolant control valve from dealership and no problems no more. no more sea saw noise when in park or idle. I did however snap the bolt so for now its only bolted in by 1 bolt but it seems pretty sturdy and has been running since no problems.

    Since there isn't much vibration in the control valve, you might be ok with just 1 bolt. However if you have the time, maybe you can add a zip tie to tie down and secure it, just in case.

    Hey I see that your located in LA, I'm near there as well and I'm currently in need of prolonging my battery. I saw that your a well known member in this forum and was wondering if you had one I can use or know anybody who has one in the SoCal area. Willing to buy one as well as my battery is at 40 percent right now and I know I'm gonna need to do it soon. For gen 2, 2006. Thank you and have a nice day
