Last year nimblemotors and Soren Lorensen figured out how to "trick" a gen1 into believing that all is well with the HCAC actuator on the co$tly and now scarce original exhaust. thread: Tricking HCAC codes into going away? | PriusChat The theory is that the volume of air moved in/out of the actuator matters. The Goldwing parts on ebay aren't $7 anymore. Maybe Prius drivers have multiplied demand in the last year? Can anyone provide approximate dimensions or volume for HCAC actuator, the Goldwing part, or another part that's working? That might help with selecting viable alternatives. Considering the value of the solution, I'm thinking more about local source than cost.
I think it’s more forgiving than we think. I’ve used a balloon in the past with a sprinkler head. I suppose if you find something that has enough expansion capability it’s fine.
Yeah, nimblemotors in that thread also reported success with a sprinkler head, which I don't have, but also said: and So I'm looking for some rough estimate of size/volume to look for. In the same thread this question went unanswered: ...which I'm also wondering about because that might be the easiest thing for me to find.
