They say there will be 2 engine choices 1.8L and 2.0L. I wonder what we will get in North America.

    1) Why do you care?
    2) I've gotten more positive comments on the look of my 2017 Prime than on any other car I've ever owned, including a classic show car.

I'd prefer cost-effective, practical and efficient over all else. That's what led me to buy my 2004 and 2017 Priuses.

From what I read about the 2.0 - it's not as economical in Corolla as the 1.8. Corolla this month is getting an "upgraded" version of the 1.8l PRIUS engine - with more kW, more Nm - AND about 10% worse economy. Corolla Cross with 2.0 isn't particularly impressive with economy.

Part of the reason I cancelled my Corolla order.

If the recent renders we've been seeing in the interwebs are anything to go by, it won't be.

Agreed but we may be a dying breed, at least in this country. In Japan they have the Aqua and Yaris for that now, so Prius has to be different, at least in some ways.

I agree - it should be the first range extender or full EV from Toyota.

I've worked on a 2017 before... They didn't make it as ugly as a few years before that, but when it comes to ugly it's not just how it looks, it's how the corners of the car can survive a minor impact and based on that alone, your car is ugly.

Wanna make a bet that Gen2 Prius will be longest lasting Prius ever built?

    Exactly...

When was the last time you looked at a pretty face and admired the texture! Lol... Toyota is gonna fail so hard if "texture" is their sense of what make an aesthetic design look beautiful.

Very difficult to translate Japanese well. My take is that they were talking about the interior having better quality interior surfaces, not hard plastic.

In which way, fuel efficient cars? I don't think so. In regards to the Prius, they are just getting close to max efficiency for the model's price point. I don't think there are many buyers out there willing to pay for what it will take to get the increases past generations saw. Those that would are switching to plug ins.

So Toyota is improving the model in other areas in an effort to expand sales beyond its past market. They also need to give a reason for choosing it over the Corolla hybrid.
