That part number they gave you is for a gasket for the brake booster. It's about four bucks. You can see it in the far right of this picture.



The big ol' boxy part just to the left of that gasket would be the booster assembly they're wanting to sell you.

 

Holy Keeryst, went to Amayama, "looking for a bargain". Don't see the part number you posted, do see 6 alternatives (puzzling...), and they're all stratospheric priced:

Ah, that's more in the ballpark I remembered.

 

I don't think programming is needed, other than the small procedures described in the manual, like learning the solenoid offset, which if it needs to do, it will tell you by setting the code that means that, and then in Techstream you say "ok, so do that", and it does.

Now, it's possible that the units sold for use in different car models are "programmed" with different calibrations of the software, and that could be sticky business, if you pick one up that was meant for a different model. I know there are different calibration IDs for 2010 between the trims that came with 15" and 17" wheels, for example.

It's possible the dealer could reflash one, if it came down to that; they do have reflashes available for TSBs. They don't really advertise being able to do that from one application model to another.

If you can connect to the thing with Techstream, you can find out its current calibration ID, and compare to the ones listed in bulletins for your model, to see if it's one of those. T-CP-A0B-0001-D is one bulletin I know of that has brake calibration IDs listed.

 

Not every number you see on a part is a part number. You can see "47210-47310" on a part itself, but if you do, you are looking at a 47050-47140 part (or the older part that 47050-47140 has superseded, and 47210-47310 wasn't the part number of that older one, either). Yes, it's tricky.

So here's what you do, you go to Toyota's own parts site, you look by 2010 Prius, and you see these two choices for the part;

So you have to decide which one is right for your car. You click each one and look. When you click the top one, you see it says the mark on the part can be 47210-47310 or 47210-47140, and under "what this fits" you can see 2010 hatchback and L grade.

When you click on the second one, you see its "mark" can be 47210-47320 or 47210-47150, and it goes on 2010 G or S grades with the 17 inch wheels.

Your profile says you have a three, so I would expect you want the first one. What is the mark on the one in your car?

Often used part sellers online will not be paying attention to that, and they will list the mark they see on the part as if it were the part number.

 

The number you can actually see on the part itself, which some online sellers mistake for the part number.

 

No, the confusing thing is that Toyota part numbers all look like some xxxxx-yyyyy, and so do the marks printed on parts that are not part numbers.

In your case, 47210-47310 is the mark on the part, but 47050-47140 is its part number (which you will not find on the part).

We have purchased parts from the Stuart, FL Toyota Dealer Certified Used in the past for a more economical price and they are telling us that they need the Actual # off of the Part that is to be removed to be sure of the Compatibility of the Replacement part due to the electronics involved ?
The Mechanic at the Independent shop does not want to remove the existing part until he has one that will be shipped to replace the one that he is removing (that we need the Part# off of ?)
