I did buy a new egr valve , didn’t even think about a pressure washer.. hopefully that works and don’t have to pay the $300 for a new one.

Just replaced the water pump, much easier than getting the egr cooler off. I finally defeated the nut under the cooler but my hands are way beyond scraped up and had to make a Reno run for deep sockets that I didn’t have why can’t Toyota spend a couple hundred more on the cars to smooth out all the edges !!?!!?

I don’t have a pressure washer but I suppose a few $5 in quarters minimum on the car wash in town will be worth not having to buy a new one. Good idea on the oven cleaner , thanks !

You can get a pressure washer for $100. That's what I paid for mine a few years ago.
I don't think they've gone up much since. You can check online at the different stores...

When its totally clogged and hard from end to end, a wire on a drill works. That condition generally means you have excessive oil consumption. Since you intend to replace the engine next summer, I would not get too carried away with this engine. Get a rebuilt replacement by saving the "maintenance" dollars now.

Thanks for the idea, used a coat hanger and was able to dig in and am making progress

Are you suggesting that I don’t put a new egr valve on it due to the likely oil consumption ?

Already had some oxy clean…your suggestion working good..been soaking for a few hours and finally getting some drips through when holding vertical and poking with clothes hanger wire. 3 day snowstorm about to hit so will keep at it .

How many miles and how many warm-up cycles do you have on this cat so far
