Btw, there was lots of talk back in the day about not having anything welded to a Prius as it could damage the car.

Not sure if its true seen a few posts about it but if i was getting welding done I would disconnect the car. Its pretty easy.

In fact I had a muffler shop remove my original cat and install a new cat from amazon for $129 worked perfect.

At first the muffler installer wouldn't touch the car afraid he would blow it up welding on it he heard alot of story's.

I agreed and then disconnected the 12 volt battery and pulled the high voltage plug on the hybrid battery thereby killing all power in the car and talked him into welding up my cat. When done I plugged it all back in and no issues. Sold the car a year later.

Got $1400 for my cat on ebay. This was pre-covid.

Toyota's repair Manual for Collision Damage does recommend disconnecting the 12 volt battery before any electrical welding, and also attaching the welder's ground clamp to the nearest practical metal to where the welding will be done.
