Radiator cap dealer versus AutoZone or advance auto parts Napa auto parts?

    Radiator cap dealer versus AutoZone or advance auto parts Napa auto parts? Called the local dealer and they told me it was gonna be 24 for the Oh radiator cap and $20 for pick up. Or I can get it shipped to my house and pay shipping. Has anybody had good luck with the local auto parts store regarding the radiator cap. Thanks for any help.

    Car has been overheating and I realized coolant was overflowing into the reserve tank. Also I noticed it coming out from underneath the cap.

    Nothing special it has the PSI stamped on ear like most toyz do I believe.any store STANT. Had their leveR locks on toyz since 68

    In general I don't have problems with aftermarket radiator caps. Overheating is not a common problem on a Gen2. Yes a bad cap can cause "boil over" and coolant loss.

    However, I would look over the rest of the cooling system as well. How is the water pump and its drive belt? Do you have a warning light coming on the dash? Radiator fans come on? Do you have any type of scantool device that would let you monitor the engine coolant temperature sensor from the ECM?

    I agree with others saying that it’s likely not a cap. Is there any reason air would be in the system?

    A leak or pinhole in a rubber product in system.

    I'd go to Autozone and borrow their cooling system pressure tester and see if the system holds.

    Thanks for all the replies I bought a new radiator cap from Napa. And Coolant is still being forced into the overflow tank. Also bought Harbor freight vacuum fill Airlift knock off. Still air in the system what it is doing is after 200 miles the coolant is being forced out to the overflow tank. I think it might just be a blown head gasket the car did overheat when the red triangle came on. The cause was a bad water pump replaced it. After that is when I started having problems with Coolant being forced into the reservoir tank but the crazy thing is oil looks good car runs fine get about 45 mpg no noticeable hesitation. I just have to blow the coolant back into the radiator by blowing on the small hose on the overflow tank. Lol
