Help with diagnosis. I'm tired of paying for repairs I do not need. Here is a quick summary: 1. 2010 Prius has 256k miles on it. (PS- this is my third Prius, and I do not ditch until 300k miles) 2. Intermittent problem, not consistent. 3. Under 30 mph, can feel like I am going over a rumble strip. I can recreate this on demand. 4. No engine lights on originally. 5. When I first start-up in the am, from the park, does not happen. 6. Only happens after the car has been running for a while. When I hit traffic, and have to keep my foot on the brake for a while, when I start to accelerate, it rumbles a bit, then stops between 20-30 mph, and then does not happen again. 7. If I DO NOT use the brake and just decelerate to say, 5 mph, or even stopped without the use of the brake, it won't happen. 8. Doesn't happen when I tap the brakes or use the brakes to slow down while driving, even if a drop below 15 mph. Brought it to a mechanic, explained all the above, and they said my car was misfiring and needed a tune-up. I paid $551 for a tune-up. Left the garage with my car, and there was no change. No change except for now the Engine light is on. Awesome. I am a little pissed because the mileage was exactly the same in and out of the garage, so I know they didn't take it for a drive to diagnose. They probably said, high miles, lets tune it up. Brought back to the garage to have a second look. What are your thoughts?
What's your describing is rumble could that possibly be the engine misfiring and bouncing around in the car not from loose engine mounts or anything but from missing and getting seriously out of balance while in the process of missing and my 2013 this would make the equivalent of the clutch in the Prius the flex plate mounted between the engine and transmission I guess those springs were bottoming out and clanking It waxed things around enough to break a hole in the center girdle of the block assembly and of course the engines useless
