Have a 2020 Prius XLE AWD and the center console lid has one broken latch mechanism (there are two - one in front and one in rear on the underside). While it still continues to shut since the back latch works, I wanted to replace the front latch. I was thinking I could either buy the latch mechanism or if not, I could buy a new lid. I’ve had two Toyota dealers tell me you cannot buy either and must buy the whole center console for about $600.00. That seems absurd - anyone know if what the dealer parts department is saying is true? Thanks
Might be cheaper for you here: https://www.amayama.com/en/catalogs/toyota/prius/4-hatchback-right-xw50-2015-2836/body-and-interior-3/console-box-bracket-197
The dealers are correct: neither the latch nor the lid is sold separately. See catalog Figure 58-06, Console Box & Bracket, part name code 58910C. The part number is 58910-47010-C2, if the car has SofTex (synthetic leather) seats, and 58910-47020-C3, otherwise. That catalog is for right-hand drive models sold in Japan, with a console box hinged on the opposite side—look carefully at the locations of the hinge pins in the illustration. Notice, also, “Steering wheel Right,” and in the model code, “DAA,” indicating compliance with Japanese emissions regulations.
Which way is the hinge, say with North American steering wheel on the left? That's one advantage of 3rd gen, hinge at the back, bilingual.
