Looking for Info on changing audio..mine does not have the cd player. Also can gen 2 mfd work in gen 1 mfd? What other simple custom changes can I make?
I purchased a used OEM accessory CD player for my 2003 Gen1, but the salvager cut of the cord to a stub so it is nearly impossible to rewire. So I happened to have an really good quality aftermarket radio/CD single din stereo from a vehicle I no longer have. I shopped for and bought adaptor wire harnesses to connect to 2001 to 2003 Prius. Had to disconnect the radio tape player terminals and connect the new stereo unit to them. . I installed the stereo unit into space above the the ash tray and lighter. The touch screen no longer functions for the stereo, but all other functions still do. The stereo works great and sounds even better even with the OEM speakers. A pretty easy installation and now can play CDs.
