I have a 2005 Prius with 131k miles. The check engine light came on. I had my mechanic check for codes, he had 3different scanners. There were no codes posted. Next day light went off. It has been off for a week. Now it has returned. Can anybody help. Thank you,Arthur

If the check engine light turned on, then definitely at least one DTC was posted. Since your mechanic lacks the proper tools to retrieve the fault code, you need to visit your local Toyota dealer's service dept for help.

Any change in gasoline? My car only likes Chevron. I can get by with a few other brands, but others, such as Texaco, cause the light to come on for a few days, and then it goes off.

I have techstream and have used to to read codes. I was getting an O2 sensor code and cleared the code. It didn’t come back, but the check engine light is still on and there are no codes. I’ve driven it about 25 miles since. Do you also have to also clear the check engine light?

The trouble code is what turns on and off the light. No code; no light.

If it was me, I'd hook up Techstream again to see if I missed something or if the original code popped right back up. If you have a bad O2 sensor, clearing the code won't fix the sensor. Did you replace the sensor?

No, I did t replace it yet. I just want sure if it was an old code and I wanted to see what came back on. I’ll change it just to see what happens
