I've rolled 178,000 miles on my 2012 Prius V. I love the car. I utilize it as a realtor and ride share driver. I know that the struts and shocks need to be replaced. Yesterday the dealer quoted me $5400 in repairs for the following: FT STAB BAR LINK FT LWR BALL JOINT FT STRUT RR SHOCK FT LWR CTRL ARM I am not mechanical. I do have a repairman who I can depend on. My question is should all of this be done at once and is there a priority of what to do first. After just swapping out the original 12 volt and doing the brakes, I'm hoping to do these nest repairs in steps but that might not be possible. I appreciate this groups help.
FT STAB BAR LINK......bar and joints <$50 at Rock Auto FT LWR BALL JOINT....<$30 at Rock Auto FT STRUT....<$100 at Rock Auto RR SHOCK.....$30 at Rock Auto FT LWR CTRL ARM...<$120 at Rock Auto Those were the higher cost models. About $350 max in parts for a DIY Maybe they charge $3500 for an alignment? I'd like to think any competent mechanic could knock these items out relatively quickly. Sounds like an afternoon of work for me...
