Hi guys... my clock fell inside the dashboard. I need to get a hand back there to pop it back in from behind. Toyota quoted $100, but I'm thinking this isn't too difficult to do myself.
I assume that getting access to the radio will give me access to the clock, since it sits right above it. Is there a write-up on removing the radio? This is a 2006 with the standard radio.

(I found one thread about this dated 2007, but there is no write-up or specific directions.)

    Thanks!

I remember a few years ago people were replacing their MFDs. It seems to me that it's all one housing piece. Perhaps a search for MFD would come up with assembly (dis-assembly) instructions.

On a lighter note, would it be appropriate to say that it went back in time?

I was thinking you could use a small mirror to read the clock, or black tape to cover the hole.

    Just trying to help...

I'm not sure, but I think if it hides like that it means we get 6 more weeks of winter.

I had the same thing happen...I had a temper about something and punched the dash and the clock went into the dash. saved the day by using tweezers and carefully and patiently pulling it out with the tweezers

I have a 2007 Prius touring, and the same thing happened to me; I got 2 stats from work(hospital), brabbed it on both sides, and pulled it forward until it snapped into place. Saved myself a hundred dollars at least! :D

The same thing happened to me! So annoying. One day, I went out (inspired by these forums), took some regular thread and a butter knife, and fixed it. I made a loop with the thread and used the butter knife to push it back and around the clock. I then used the thread to pull it forwards. I was then able to pull it into place with my fingers. Snapped right in! Don't waste your money at the dealership, or your time taking the dash apart.

Just wanted to say, same thing happened to me. Found this forum and used the string technique mentioned above. That, a little patience, and some chop sticks got the job done. Thanks for putting the info out there.

Had the same issue. My rear view mirror dropped off as the glue behind the metal button of that mirror holder could not hold that mirror for a long time due to my recently changed after market windshield glass and glue. Anyway, that mirror accidentally dropped off and fell on the clock. The result: the clock pushed backwards. To fix this clock I just sat on the front passenger seat, and then I used a kitchen fork to slide the fork in the hole, and tilt the clock right side so that my fingers can grab the clock from the side part of it. Then I slowly pulled the clock with two fingers, and snapped back just one side of it (the side where the time and hour buttons are located). Soon that side (where time and hour buttons are located) got snapped on the one side of the holder, the other side also got snapped quickly and smoothly by gentle pull using just fingers.

Thank you to the people who posted above, such as @texas.stevens!

As you can see here, my clock sunk into my dashboard when I pressed the M button.

Using 2 very thin knives, I was able to pop it back out where it's supposed to be.

Be careful not to use sharp knives; when trying to squeeze the clock between 2 knives, it slipped a couple of times. You wouldn't want to slice yourself.
