So I am hopeful that someone knows about the interchangeable between gen 2 and gen 3 prius seats. I have found a 2010 being parted and my 2008 needs a new driver's seat. The airbag in the driver's seat was damaged and I am hoping to replace the seat. Does anyone know if the third gen seat with air bag would be compatible with my 2008????
I don’t know if the newer seat design is physically compatible with the mounting points, but even if it is, I’d hesitate before connecting anything other than the parts listed in the catalog for the model year of your car to an airbag firing circuit. We don’t know how the specifications for the airbag and squib might have changed; Toyota doesn’t publish proprietary design information like this. In case of a collision, an airbag of newer design connected to an older airbag ECU might detonate differently than expected or not at all, causing serious injury or failing to protect the vehicle occupants.
