My 2015 has 58K miles on the odometer. Recently the check engine light came on, and DTC P0441 and P0455 were logged. There is no adverse impact to vehicle performance or driveability. Is there much group experience with the two DTC for third generation Prius? I'm planning to check the purge vacuum switching valve located under the engine air cleaner, to see whether the valve opens up when battery voltage is applied, and closes when the voltage is removed. I'll also look at the hose condition, at least the portion that can be seen. Thanks! Edit: I just realized that the 8 year/80K Federal emissions control warranty should apply to this issue, so I will schedule to bring the car in to the local dealer for evaluation.
Welcome back Patrick! Long time no see... Your contributions to PriusChat back in the day were huge! Please let us know what the dealership says soon as you find out?
After retrieving the DTC two weeks ago, I cleared them. They have not returned after driving the car 1,200 miles with probably 10 or more warm-up/cool down cycles where the car has a chance to test the integrity of the fuel tank and associated plumbing 4-5 hours after engine shut down, so the issue appears to have gone away. Maybe this was due to a loose fuel filler cap.
I got P0441 and P0455 DTCs as well. I would tighten the gas cap, reset the faults, and everything would seem fine for weeks and then the CEL and the same DTCs would reappear. I even tried a different gas cap. Eventually found the problem: the rubber/plastic hose that connects the gas filler neck to the gas tank had a hole. I noticed a strong gas smell when filling the gas. I believe that the damage was caused by a mouse.
