Does a 2013 Prius V with 100k miles for $13000 sound like a good deal?

2 owners, one seems to have sold the car shortly after an accident to the left side of the car, that isn't noticeable now. The carfax says the head gasket was replaced at 70k miles. I tried pressing the modes like EV and ECO and the button console completely broke and fell inward. Other than that though lol, it seemed to drive nice and was getting 35 mpg. What do y'all think?

    Here is the carfax:

Maybe I wouldn't be buying cars. That's an absolute horrid deal but then again I know people and have been around the car business a lot of my life so none of this kind of thing is happening My 13 cost me five grand and drove it three or four months put an engine in it it still driving that engine installed with cost of engine and install was about 1800 1950 something like that low mileage takeout Japan The rest of the car was in very decent shape a 2012 or 13 shouldn't have buttons pushing in and falling through what is the plastic console or any of that if that's happening it's been sitting in the sun all of its life definitely a bad deal. Ideally buying cars like this looking retirement communities where people have garages next to their townhomes are connected to their town homes and you try and buy these from those type of folks they don't really go anywhere maybe just enough but the car is always indoors and very clean and if you can catch them before the kids get to him and ask for $25,000 you're in good shape once the kids get involved it's all over as you well know

'a good deal' is only relative to whatever else is available in your market.

if you can confirm the head gasket, then the only things you have to worry about is oil burning, brake actuator, stolen cat, and egr cleaning

35 mpg seems low, but it depends on what kind of driving you are doing. Short trips definitely affect mpg.

A head gasket at 70K seems way too early. Our 2011 at nearly 130K on the odometer is still on it's original head gasket (knock on wood), and was getting 50 mpg doing mostly freeway driving.

Though a recent change in work location changed the driving to repeated short (<10 minute) to and from trips. This has dropped the mpg down to 35 mpg as the engine runs almost continuously during the warm-up cycle.

Sounds like a bad deal to me. In a year that car might be worth $6k assuming its running well. A head gasket at 70k miles means excessive oil consumption to me, a known problem with gen3 Prii and acknowledged by Toyota. A poor hg job where aluminum head and blocks were not carefully inspected could occur again. Plus it is easily hidden by the flipper with temporary coolant sealer.

The hybrid battery and brake boosters are getting old and both cost around $2,500 each to replace reliably. The inverter is known to fail without warning as well making the car a tough vehicle to take any distance from home.

35 mpg is poor as well even for a Prius v wagon that should get 42 combined.

Add in hidden damage from the wreck and this car is a big no in my book.

Any paperwork verifying the head gasket replacement? 70K seems VERY early.

In this current car market it's hard to find any sort of deal. I'm not so sure it'll go back to normal in a year either. I don't know the car industry too well though haha, this is my first time buying a car.

By 2025 we may see fuel prices close to $10 a gal.

You can thank your military president.

So we can enjoy the price inflation in our hybrids and 4 cylinder vehicles.

Or...we can start protesting the huge gas prices and proxy war we do not need to fund anymore.

Either way Elon and friends will force EV's down your throats in 2035 but we may not even have wifi by then so stuff wont work.

Military president ? He’s been a life long politician since 27 years old. You owe apologies to all military branches.

I think I owe less than all the billions given out to ukraine.

The president is the commander in chief of the military.

That is why we are in the trouble we are in.

Who else calls in the drone strikes?

Now a protest is in order and we need to put the blm movement on the back burner.

$2.99 gasoline and falling today. The increasing number of evs will stretch the gasoline supply. Especially as more people switch to heat pumps starting next year.

The nation needs to protest for a national average so that everyone can save to buy the EV's easily.

I am paying $4.91 at the moment.

We also need to stop funding this proxy war since it has a direct connection to all the high gas prices.

Also it is for the safety of this land and the people on it, possibly the world.
