Hello Priuschat, I’ve never actually used this platform but I find it very informative. I am a Prius technician in San Diego California. I have been rebuilding engines, head gasket replacements and other maintenance services on these for about 6 years now. A lot of my customers have asked me to connect with the Prius chat community and see if anything here can use my assistance.
welcome! nice to see a hybrid pro in sd, seems to be a dearth there. i'll try to remember you for recommendations. all the best!
Have you ever replaced a bad hybrid battery and been unable to clear the error code? That's one, though rare, that's a mystery some of us have been unable to resolve. Sometimes Toyota Stealerships say you have the start replacing ECUs and after spending huge on that they'll often shrug their shoulders and be like, wow you sure spent alot of money on a fix that didn't work.
I see more photos of broken prius cars than fixed ones. The internet world is all about photos so I have no choice but to kowtow to that logic.
Welcome to PriusChat!! Some ballpark pricing for each of the above mentioned services (or others) would be helpful, and if you feel comfortable listing the address. Have you ever performed a gen4 engine swap?
Hi, It would be a very neat piece of technical assistance if you were able to find the solution to the issue in this thread: permanent P0102 readiness monitor stuck "incomplete" | PriusChat I'm pretty sure that "ECM broken, has to be replaced" is not the right answer. I think it's much more likely that the ECM is fine, but the repair manual has left out some small but crucial detail from the conditions needed for the P0102 monitor to run. But trying to figure out what the missing detail is by blind trial-and-error could take a really really long time. If you had access to any bulletins providing the answer to that, or a way to pass the question upstream and find somebody who knows the answer, that would be super helpful.
Awesome! Can you add your details to my site? I am building a list of technicians and repair shops with the hopes it easier for people to find someone close to them. https://black.jmyntrn.com/recommended-prius-repair-shops/
Alex, Unfortunately, this thread is over a year old and the OP was a one and done.....never to be seen again.
