I have had several Prii my current Pri is a PP 21. I have brought my various Prii into the dealer in Salem NH - It was Rockingham Toyota and the new owner calls it Canobie Lake Toyota - neither had charged me for having the back up beeper silenced. From what I have read here, some dealers do charge for this service. Our family has had good experiences with Rockingham Honda/ Toyota/ Nissan and hope to have the same with Canobie Lake Toyota. Recent experience with Canobie has been positive.
I made it a condition of purchase. No silencing (for free), no sale. No sane dealer will refuse a sale for anything that costs fewer than 100$.
I think even a momentary battery disconnect and the beep reverts to defaults? Not 100% sure, but believe you can do it with Dr Prius. I haven’t bothered with it, don’t mind it.
I don't remember for sure on the Gen 3, but I've disconnected my 12V several times on the Prime and it still just beeps once. And it remembers my window settings, turn signal settings, etc.
Yeah I've never tried disabling the beep, on our 2010, so that was speculation. Too, I'd like to convert the beep, to a voice message saying "you're in reverse, you're in reverse...".
I think mine would say, "Watch it, dummy! You're in reverse." Although, it kind of already says that on the backup camera display. Something about being aware of my surroundings or some such sage advice.
are you saying that dealers who are willing to change the back up beep for free are reliable partners, or did i miss something?
