    True.
Safest bet is buy them from Toyota dealer online. Little cheaper.

Im stil getting a clink clank when in maintenance mode and I put it in neutral only in neutral do I get this noise. I hope that it is the misfire causing a minor knock at the motors and engine try to sync back up again but then again its in neutral. in any case im taking it to a prius specialist who told me they have never seen a bad damper. Will report back next week.

Can’t remember any on this site. If it fails the engine is no longer connected to the trans so .....

If it fails in the form of the central coil springs fragmenting and falling to the bottom of the bell housing, the engine is definitely still connected to the trans, except that speed fluctuations now make very loud bonks. Photos of such dampers have been posted on PriusChat. I don't think I have URLs saved to any of those threads, but they were definitely on this site and that's how I saw them.

You didn't report back "next week"
Check to see if your "clink/clank" is the front wheels trying to turn. Similar issue turned out to be the ECM/PCM short inside caused injector failure and one symptom was the wheels trying to go move while it park with a loud "clink/clank".

He asks: "what was the outcome?"
Then fails to list what was his own outcome....

I ended up swapping the trans. in the post mortem/headgasket saga I guess my car did too much morning shutter and I think damaged something in the trans. I think all Prius do it ... a slight thunk when they start. my may have been way out of specs so I found a used trans with 60k on it and the sound when away. One other thing my old trans made a metallic popcorn sound along with the clank at start. both went away after the trans swap.

How much work was it to swap the transmission? Time, etc?

YOu need to pull the engine. its a project but doable it took me two day. basically the weekend by myself except Grandpa helping with the cherry picker adjusting it lowering as I kick the engine into place from the side to marry to the trans. It is totally worth it. here is an example where I got it called LQK

Can this be done whilst the car is on jack stands I.e from underneath the car and without taking out the engine?
