I am having prius 08 which has 2 faulty cells in the hybrid battery. Recently, i started noticing that the gas engine keeps on most of the time even when ev mode should take control. It occurs for the first 15 minute of driving. It does not allow me to use glide driving. Any ideas why this started to happen? Even tho i wait 5 minute to make the engine warmer and to charge the battery.
You got warning lights? When warning lights come on for bad battery pack it usually means the car shuts down the hybrid system to protect it and so you got gas engine only and barely enough power to get up a hill. Do you need info on how to read codes and clear warning lights?
Yeah, people who don't ignore warning lights and get their vehicle fixed right awya so there's no warning lights own their vehicle for a long time. People who just keep driving and ignore the warnings are just one more problem away from looking for another car again, because if your warning lights are already on, you'll never know about the additional problem when it's inexpensive to fix and will have to wait till the problem gets worse.
