    The cause is that the shifter mechanism has moving parts that are dirty or lack lubrication and cause it not to snap back into position quickly enough. It needed to be cleaned out and lubricated.

    There may be other causes for other vehicles but that was mine.

    Have rhe same problem on my 05 prius, except the shifter moves around quick like normal. Guessing it's not the shifter problem like others had? What could be the problem?
