Advice on hitch, mainly for bike rack, for 2022 LE AWD-e?

    Does any one have any advice about getting a hitch and getting it installed on a 2022 LE AWD-e? USA-based advice (I live in Brooklyn, New York) is probably most ideal for this, though international advice might be applicable. It's not something I can personally do myself. I mainly want a hitch just for a bike rack. It's not impossible but fairly unlikely might want to tow a Uhaul trailer or something on a very rare occasion. Apparently Uhaul will sell you a hitch and install it, any advice/thoughts on that? Should I look into getting dealership to do it for any reason? I don't have a trusted mechanic. Thanks!

    Might want to check your owners manual before going to the dealership for it.

    Have you considered a roof rack setup? Easy to do and you could probably do it yourself. Additional benefits is it is completely removable when not in use, so no permanent effect on gas mileage, no worries over warranty issues, and bikes are more protected on the roof.

    I have definitely considered it but it seems like you have to have a very light-weight bike (which I don't) and/or be a very strong person (which I'm not) preferably with no history of back problems (I've had back problems for last 25 years since I was a teenager) in order to safely and securely lift bike up on there without injury to self (and/or vehicle and/or bike). A step ladder might help but still....also I live in Brooklyn, New York in a 6 story apt. building and street park vehicle so any loading would happen on curb or in street....thoughts?

    We had the same problem. We protect the car with a quilted moving blanket (that we have also used as a picnic blanket:) ). And then we got a folding light weight work platform to give us another 20 inches or so. Actually ended up working pretty well. Toyota roof rack is easy to take on and off, and Yakima Frontloaders.

    Uhual appears to have decent rates for install compared to dealerships, I got mine installed (CMF11473) from Uhual (2016) for $250 total in may of last year, according to reciept, Uhual charged 100 for .8 hours of labor. This in SF bay area which probably has higher prices, but maybe comparable to NY?

    Thanks. Dealership doesn't install but wasn't really discouraging of it, said it wouldn't violate warranty. Uhaul seems like good option. Thanks again!

    For a bike rack, def use a 2in tow hitch.
    It adds a significant amount of durability. Stay away from a system that is 1.25 because its cheaper and you figure you can add a 2in converter. Man up, buddy. Lol. Do it right. Remember you get what you pay for.
