My daughter has a 2004 Prius with slightly over 200k on it that’s developed several repair issues at once. I don’t think it’s worth the cost of parts and repairs. It is in okay condition for many parts for someone interested in restoration projects. It starts and drives, well enough, but has several codes and warning lights on it. It’s in the Minnesota Metro area. Is there a party on Priuschat that would be interested in it for parts, reconditioning or restore?
You will find many people who will be interested on Craigslist.com List it there and make some money. The catalytic converter is worth $1000 by itself. Don’t underprice it.
A lot of this car nonsense is starting to fall by the wayside as we speak converter stuff and all that in Minnesota car that's going to be well generally a rust bucket I don't know how well these Prius Fair and extreme snow and rust states it's been years since I've ventured to New York and looked at the cars when I lived in Western Massachusetts and places two years was about it on a Toyota and rocker panels were starting to rust garage or not if you were faithful and could hose the car off after every drive in the snow salt you might get four years it's really that bad but I've driven my Corollas around with no rocker panels for 17 years about drove one here to North Carolina from Western Mass kept it for another year people down here looked at it like it was insane it was completely rust.
I bought a garage kept low mileage 2001 honda insight, they are ALL aluminum and plastic, It was from whatever the capital of new york is every single bolt and steel part like housings etc were rusted beyond use, bolts just snap off on the engine frame etc, i learned my lesson. good thing i got it for 600 bucks. mind you, the bolts arent frozen, they just snap right off
It was 1,800 when I went there, right rear brake locked up wouldnt roll out of the garage, quickly went to 600 as i drug it out squeeling with the f350 into a busy highway out front.
I love restoration projects, how much are you selling it? I live in MN (maple grove) for 5 years 23 yrs ago.. rust is definitely issue for cars there. I also bought an ML320 in Iowa and that was a pain in the butt too because of rust. A 1 minute job of taking out a 10mm bolt will take hours or days because the head will just snap off. For bigger bolts a torch is needed..
