Hello, I occasionally get a "Check PCS" system that comes and goes and two days ago my "Check Hybrid System" error came up and stayed on for two days. I called a mechanic and they said the hybrid battery likely needs to be replaced but now the errors are gone as if nothing ever happened. Anyone have experience with this? Is it normal for the "Check Hybrid System" battery to go on and off?
Nothing on this car magically goes away, except the catalytic converter when you're parked on the street! You should read the codes that are stored in the car, it'll tell you why the warning light came on. It normally would return once the fault is detected again.
Good to know the fault will return once detected. I'm approaching 250,000 miles. I live in California. Coolant/oil levels seem to be fine. My engine does burn oil but I recently topped it off prior to the error.
How many busbars are in gen 3 prius hybrid battery? Is there a busbar attached to the black high voltage cutoff switch?
There are 26 "straps" on mine. My HV cutoff is orange (on black) and yes it's connected to the bus straps using wire.
