I recently replaced the original hybrid battery in my 2007 Prius (150k miles on it) with an aftermarket one. I'd like to get rid of the old battery cells. I contacted a specialized Prius dealer/repair shop (not local, but closest one to me) and they won't take them. I imagine there's someone out there who'd like to try to refurbish these cells (the battery was working fine before I stopped driving for a time, so some cells may have drained). Does anyone have any suggestions aside from Craigslist?
This guy will cover the shipping cost and maybe more if they're good enough to reuse: https://2ndlifebattery.com/contact-us/
I appreciate your suggestion! I've sent my info to them and hopefully I can offload these cells soon.
I contacted him and he sounds unreliable. I've asked questions about how it works and he won't answer those questions. He just gives his address and says send them away. I'm sorry, but the fine print is still important. It's way cheaper for me to just recycle these batteries locally, so I need to know what's refunded and when, what he does if all the cells are good, all are bad, or some combination of the two. I want to be green about this and give the batteries new life, but he's not making it easy.
May the force be with you. Did the project lithium upgrade in may. My pack was a 3 month old refurb from a reputable shop. The full pack is still collecting dust in my shop after listing here and on market place.
