I've been trying to find a car with a better color than the Blue Magnetism, but I still haven't seen one. Last week, I saw a sports car with a similar shade of blue–green (BMW?). It looked great, and it was a close competition between mine and it. You really need to own the Blue Magnetism to discover what a great shade it is. I feel sorry for all those people who drive shades of gray on the road. What are they thinking and what was I thinking before?

Sorry for your chip and nose poke. Those stony roads are detrimental for the windshields.

We loved our Blue Magnetism but the color clashed, so......

PS: A new Titanium Glow made possible by ridiculously low trade-up costs! :D

I went for a drive in poor conditions two days ago, as we had an unexpected snowfall (this is supposed to be the middle of spring ), and I had just switched to summer tires. Halfway through the DRCC system stopped working. I figured it might be covered by snow, but after parking I discovered a bit more snow than expected.

Even on slippery tires the car performed well, but used a bit more gasoline. In general I find that the Prius is happiest when I am happiest, at above 10°C.

Now that you mention it, it looks more like a contented grin to me. :)

Went for my ~300km roundtrip again. I did cheat by charging in the middle, but I also went for a couple of detours. I ended up at 2.7l/100km. I think that's the best I have managed so far. A couple of previous trips has been at 3.0 and 2.8, which is also very good.

I bested my previous record, today I managed the an average of 2.1l/100km (Was hoping for 2.0 blank, but just missed it). Google claims that's about 112mpg. And I managed this by doing almost nothing, except being gentle on the throttle and using Neutral a bit downhill. :notworthy:

When I bought the plug-in the intention was to drive more locally and only occasionally go for my 300 km trip. Which was why the plug seemed like such a good idea. But even with longer trips than planned the Prius has done well, through some pretty rough conditions.

The Prime really is a great all-rounder. I can't wait for things to reopen to take the Prime on a road trip again.

What I like is the car is relatively small and narrow. It makes it easy to maneuver on small secondary country roads, cities and parking lots etc. Its nimble and easy to zip in and out of traffic. It is not fast but responsive and zippy which makes it really easy to get around. After a few months I am enjoying it more than I thought I would.

Another triumph today, I got home after my 300km roundtrip with an average of 1.9l/100km (123mpg), and 10% battery remaining. It's easier to drive economically when I take local roads, which also avoids some of the toll roads.

I wish there was a way to temporarily disabling regen, as I have the road to myself on Sunday mornings and it would be nice to be able to alternate between light acceleration and coasting.

If you just lightly press the accelerator pedal, you can center the HSI between charge and propel which is coasting. It's hard to keep it perfect, but it's not that important to be perfect. Having it in ECO mode makes it easier than in the other modes. Some people put it in neutral to coast. I've done that on occasion, but I prefer to keep it in drive and feather the throttle to emulate neutral.

    Even so, that's impressive MPG!

I even managed 1.8l/100km a couple of trips. When starting out now I consistently reach 60km on the battery, before running out of local roads and hitting the HV switch to warm up the engine (before the expressway).

The eco-gameification is satisfying. Makes me think I could have gotten more milage out of the old Leaf too, but it was lacking the feedback in the Prius. And the range anxiety made it less friendly for experimenting. This is great practice for the next EV.

Took the Prius to a mountain cabin. What a joy to drive up and down the hills with a plug-in. It's difficult to come up with good excuses for replacing the car.
