Hello All, I had the hybrid battery issues so I did the following: 0. Drove my car to a shady spot, forgot I left my windows rolled down 1. Disconnected the 12v battery 2. Disconnected and removed the NiMH hybrid battery 3. Realized that left windows 4. Connected 12V briefly to roll up windows. 5. Turned on the power button (no foot on the brake) 6. Saw car lights turn on, and then everything go blank. 7. No electrical system is not operable I just covered the windows with a tarp. Did I do anything irrecoverable? Did I damage anything? How do I close my windows until the hybrid battery is fixed? Thanks. 2005 Prius.
Never tried starting a prius without the pack, but I suspect you'll be fine once the pack is back in and the error codes are cleared.
I hope you are right. I am getting very nervous about having wrecked the EUC or something. Every 12V system is dead after the initial power-on.
Put your 12v on a charger while you get the work done... Also check the fuses. You want to eliminate those concerns before you get the pack back in.
you can't turn it on with the safety plug out. either put the hybrid battery back in, or tape plastic over the windows
??? What does the HV safety plug or battery pack have to do with the 12V system "not working at all"? The car won't go to Ready, but you should be able to power the ignition on and roll the windows up, scan all the ecu's, etc - as long as the 12V battery still has power. What does the 12V battery read with a digital multimeter at the battery and at the underhood fuse box? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Hello All, I pulled out the 12V battery and put it on a trickle charger whilst waiting for two new cells to arrive. I am glad to report that reinstalling the HV and the aux battery does indeed poweron the car and I was able to close the windows.
