I am getting the last laugh. I have several male friends that drive trucks . They would tease me for driving a prius calling it a hamster car. They are getting less then 20 miles and filling the trucks up cost 125.00. I'm getting 51.5 and pay under 50 to fill her up. My ravy gets 25 miles to the gallon and last month I lent it out to my friend who drove it like a Prius and he got 27 mpg.
Many plug-in car people are happier than those of us with non-plug-in Prii. My electric project to add a branch circuit for L2 charging (combined with adding a ductless heat-pump/AC unit in the master bedroom, the opposite side of the house from the existing unit) passed inspection yesterday. Now I just need a plug-in vehicle to go with the former, and some heat to test the later. We will have a 'warm' (not hot) spell this weekend, but the PHEV supply chain I've been watching is still quite sparse.
Same. We looked really hard at one last year. Easily the most amazing car I’ve ever driven. That being said when I broke everything down, the Prius is still hard to beat as far as cost per mile. Insuring the Model Y would have cost us $100 more per month. We would have of course cut into that a bit by charging at home vs. using gas in the Prius. And then when I figured in about 65k for the vehicle, sales tax, and to have a Tesla charger installed at home, it’s tough to justify. But it’s oh so nice and comfortable! Someday, someday I’ll have an EV though.
Wish I had money enough to afford a Tesla Model Y My Prius is certainly a very cost-efficient vehicle, which is especially good in an era of high gas prices and higher car prices.
