Gen 3 HV cooling fan motor: wiring diagram?

    Hi!
    Is there chance to run the Gen 3 HV cooling fan motor on the bench?
    It has 4 wires which I don't know how to connect (Gen 2 with the 2 wires is simple... ;-)).
    Does anyone have a wiring diagram?
    Which signals / voltages does it need at which pin to run the motor?
    Any other thoughts?

    Toyota’s Repair Manual has a circuit description, wiring diagram, connector pinout information, and suggested troubleshooting procedure in the section for DTC P0A84-123, “Hybrid Battery Pack Cooling Fan 1.” The Repair Manual is available by subscription to techinfo.toyota.com (U.S.) or toyota-tech.eu (Europe); it may also be available at no charge through your local public library, if they subscribe to the ChiltonLibrary database.

    With the vehicle wire harness disconnected, connector S14 on the battery cooling blower assembly (with male terminals) looks a bit like this:

    In normal operation, GND0 is connected to body ground and IG0 is connected to the 12-volt supply via the BATT FAN relay and fuse. SI0 is a speed signal from the Power Management Control ECU, and VM0 is a voltage monitoring signal to the Battery Smart Unit.

    The Repair Manual suggests using a service wire to connect SI0 and GND0, which should cause the fan to operate; I don’t see why that wouldn’t work on a bench, too. There is also an active test function for the fan in Toyota’s Techstream (GTS) diagnostic system: Under Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Active Test > Driving the Battery Cooling Fan, you can supposedly select any of the six air volume modes.

    I use a lab power supply and can adjust the fan speed by amps applied.

    I don't have access to the repair guide, and sorry for bumping an old post, but what are the color wires for each of the connectors? Found it after doing some searching around online.

    I have G9230-47020, which is the original version (before revision).

    Wire/Stripe:
    White/Black: #4
    Black/Yellow:#1
    Green/Red:#3
    Green/Black:#2

    I have the attached blower motor in a 2013 European Yaris - connector S14 on the battery cooling blower assembly (with male terminals) wires are same color at following pins (1=red, 2= white, 3=blue, 4= black) - does anyone know whether the pinout is the same ?

    Anyone know how many amps this thing will pull on full speed? I highly doubt I'll be very much, just curious. I'll find out today either way. I found an old 12 volt power supply for some lights that I'm just going to use. Tops out at 3amps.

    3amps didnt cut it. I ordered a 12v 10a power supply that wll be more than enough.

    At 14,7 V it is 2,0 A. At 12,0 V it is 1,7 A.

    Hi All

    I know this is an old thread however I need help in operating my battery fan , so I connected the IG0 to +12V PSU and the GND0 to the -Ve terminal of the PSU , when I connect SI0 to the GND0 (i.e to the -ve terminal of the PSU) the fan does not operate at all, can any one advise how can I solve this matter ?

    i did the wiring in the schematic however the fan starts and stops, and does not keep running, any idea why its doing this strange behavior?

    Could be! But who has a second one to check? ;-)

    To run my Gen 3 fan on the bench (for battery charging) I use a power supply where I can set voltange and current. With 12 - 14 Volts and 1 - 3 Amps the fan runs well.

    If you hook up a 12v battery, that charged and know good, and the fan does
    the same thing, you're confirming it is manfunctioning.
    It is possible that I may be incorrect. But I don't believe it should do as you are stating
    when you put 12volts directly to it.

    I just wanted to jump in, this site has been a huge resource for all of us. My buddies and I work on our rental fleet of Prius, and in order to maintain our hybrid batteries, I've built two "sleds" that I use to test batteries before running them through the prolong and then reassembling.

    I have used a 12v 10amp power supply on the same 2 fans the entire time. Neither fan has failed. One power supply exploded tho haha.
