Hi folks. I recently put a deposit down for a 2022 prime xle. I'm fourth on the waitlist so have a 3-5 month wait. I have a question about colors. I am drawn to the blue magnetism but am not a car washer/waxer. I decided against the color because I was told it would show more dirt, scratches, water marks from rain, and get hotter on the inside. I went with the titanium glow because there is an elderly gentleman nearby with a 2021 (which I thought was some white) He said it was titanium glow. I liked the color because it wasn't tan but wasn't a bright white. I currently have a tan prius 2007 which never went through a car wash or got washed by me. It's in good shape ...of course there have been fender replacements for a few accidents which may be why it's in good shape. So...I know there have been threads about colors but I'm asking again about the dirt aspect as well as the heat aspect. I'm planning on keeping this car for 15 plus years if I can ....only getting a new one because my daughter will need my old one for a college internship in January.'Thanks.!

I'm still a fan of the various "desert sand mica" versions that toyota has used over the years. In the SW, the dirt is the same color. My '05 still looks fine. 250k miles

Of our Supersonic Red, Blue Magnetism, and Titanium Glow we like the Titanium the most. Hides the grime and looks pretty snazzy (IMHO) with a slight rosé tint.

And um, to be honest we are kinda' partial to that color palette:whistle:

    Must resist...

Totally chauvinistic: does the Prime come in Classic Silver Metallic? It was happenstance we got our 2010 in this "colour", it was on the lot, and the level had a lot of features we liked. Still it's a "timeless" colour, and...: the touch-up pens are a perfect match for the rims (or plastic covers).

I currently have titanium glow PP. It was not my preferred choice but was the only car available at the time. I had magnetic gray before this one. I like the looks of magnetic grey better but it did show more dust, pollen, and road salt. I am like you that washing car seldom and never wax. I did wash my titanium glow PP after the winter, but the it definitely shows less dust, pollen, and road salt than the previous color. I don't know how much it affects the heart. I live in a region where more heat in winter is a better thing, so I prefer a darker color for that aspect.

I have the Blue Magnetism, and it's great. It doesn't show dirt, as it's a fairly light color. The Classic Silver Metallic I owned previously showed more dirt.

I don't like the gold color (Titanium Glow). It's probably the worst color choice in terms of aesthetics.

White also looks great. It would be my second color choice.

Black and Red don't look good with the Prius Prime trim.

Silver is OK. That was my previous Prius Prime.

    Dark Gray is not bad.

    My ranking:
    1. aqua
    2. white
    3. dark gray
    4. silver
    5. red
    6. black
    7. gold

Our magnetic grey helps the PP look more mainstream by not highlighting the front grill as much as the other lighter colours.

While, black cars are sexy. I'll never buy a black car again. The color is prone to getting dirty real quick, any scratches are noticeable from a far, and quickly heats up as the color black absorbs all wavelengths.

I have transcended to the color Magnetic Gray Metallic

What is with all these “magnetic” colours, and why are so many drawn to them? ;)

I waffled between silver and titanium glow. At that time (early '21), kbb was quoting slightly higher resale ($500) for non-silver cars. It seems silver is the new beige - losing popularity because it was so popular for so long. However, none of this really matters if you don't like the color.

Having had a few silver cars over the years, I decided to go with the TG. I'm happy with it. It doesn't show dirt, in summer or winter. I haven't noticed it being any warmer in the summer than my silver cars. I'm also a don't wash the car much person.

The only problem I have with the color is telling other people what color it is (like for curbside pickup). It's not really beige, or gold, or grey, but depending on the light, it can be any of those. If you say "TG", you get "huh?".

However, buy what you like, not what random strangers say on the internet.

Yeah, I had this problem when I had to register my car and give them the color. I think, my registration says it is "silver". And TG does look "silver" in most lighting conditions. You are correct, it is not gold nor beige. Someone said, it is a "champagne" color, but I disagree. It is not yellowish-orange as the champagne.

+1 if you are ordering one. For me, the exterior color is not very important, so I just pick one that is available on the lot. That beins sadi, I am growing to like the Titanium Glow... but if I trade in again, I will definitely go back to the magnetic gray if available.

Yes. Classic Silver Metallic is an option.

Titanium Glow is the new Toyota gold.

I also noticed that there are many solid light gray (nonmetallic) cars out there now. They were nonexistent until a few years ago, despite being very popular in the past.

The only solid color for the Prius Prime is the white, I think.

PNG image.png I’ve got to do a shout-out for black. I love the Prime in black, partly because the color blends well with the black grille and because there seem to be very few black Primes on the road. Yes, they are more work to keep clean, but black also looks the best of colors when freshly washed. Washing frequently keeps the road grime and salt off, too. I’m used to the extra work as I have two other black vehicles.

Black kills efficiency unless you live in a cold climate year round. Increases AC load, hotter when parked, etc. Oh and a pain to keep clean.
White is great for the opposite of above. I'd prefer "dirt" colored - never have to wash ;)

Had many positive compliments on our Blue Magnetism.

I agree with you that the black PP looks gorgeous. That would be the color I would pick but only if I don't have to drive the car. LOL I have never owned a solid black car before, but having had dark gray before, I can only imagine how hard it would be to keep it shiny and beautiful. And in my region and likely yours, the black absorbing the sun energy is probably the best thing that can happen to a car in the wintertime. In our area, even during summer, the temperature rarely goes above 80F (26.7C), and darker colors never affect the efficiency.

Yeah I’ve got a 31 year old black Celica. Still looks fantastic. Lots of washes, zero rust. It doesn’t have a/c which I’ve rarely ever missed (we too don’t often have summer temps a lot above 80 and I can park inside at home and work). I haven’t used a/c much on Prime yet — I believe there’s a (modest) electric a/c which should be enough on most occasions for me.
