And from the depths of the Toyota Europe Design Development center (in Nice, France no less) comes a 4runner/FJ Cruiser inspired small SUV style EV. Looks kind of practical to boot. Toyota wins 2022 Car Design Award for Concept Vehicles with Compact Cruiser EV Won the Car Design Award for Concept Vehicles, but did it win any consideration from upper brass?
What kind of award is that, how ugly you can make a car? It looks like a mashup of the worst parts of a Jeep Renegade, a Ford Bronco and an FJ. And can you stow anything on that roof besides snowboards? No thanks.
Sure, I bet you could strap a mattress up there...when you are moving out of your apartment since your neighbor/landlord evicted you to get that thing out of site. Mike
Quote from the link: Its rugged and tough exterior borrows a number of styling cues from the legendary first-generation Land Cruiser including an iconic off-road silhouette and simple, strong body sections Ok… I saw another article yesterday; my impression (of appearance only) was similar to responses above: very adolescent mishmash of disparate “elements”, in a vehicle that likely will see little off-road use. Don’t relish driving around in something that sticks out like a sore thumb.
Lexus (Toyotas nom de plume) has conceded they “might” have gone too far. Baby steps… Lost in the stampede: they won an award for this design. That never bodes good.
relax, it's a concept. It's going to show up looking like a Corolla with an extra fin on it or something.
It is, and it really is a large grill, at least it isn’t as big as the Lexus trend has been. The ladder on the passenger side is just weird. Perhaps the design was sponsored by lego?
Unless there is an extension, I don’t see getting to it unless you are an acrobat. I always disliked how boxy Cadillacs were, but this takes boxyness to a whole new level!
