Why do I only get around 380 miles range for my Prius 2020 XLE AWD?

    IMHO; "jack-rabbit" starts and stops is hard on the car and mpg. I had a friend, and that was his driving style - I'm guessing since day one. I don't know how he got his drivers license. When you ride with him, you better be wearing your seat-belt or you might hit your head on the dash board. Well maybe not that bad; but your body will shift forward and you know when he's on the brakes - without looking. He always complained that all OEM car manufacturers lie; since he can never get close to EPA mpg; even on his new car. When I told him it was his driving style; he called BS on me. So we switched cars for a week, filled the tanks, and reset the trip meter. I let him use my "dirt truck"; not my daily driver. When we swapped back cars, I easily achieved OEM EPA mpg - and told him to get the brakes checked; they've got a lot of "run-out" and pulsates on light braking. He stated that it was due for new brakes, "it's got 20K miles on them".(n):cry:

    Moral of the story: You've got a computer, that's rating your driving habits. You can simply choose to ignore it and ask us why the car isn't performing as specified by the OEM - and we can just keep giving you excuses on what's what.... Now that's FREEDOM....

    Well I guess we’ve found the potential issue.

    Try getting 4 squares at least. And use the blue accelerator guidance to help.

    could it be the roof box causing extra drag?

    By the time of the OP, no roof box had ever been installed

    Well there's your problem. Drive less aggressively and your fuel efficiency will increase.

    I get about 500 mile range (summer, not winter) in my 2020 AWD Prius.

    I've only had my FWD Gen 4 for less than 1000 miles/1 month but here are my observations so far. I'm averaging 53 mpg. One thing that really seems to affect the mpg of individual trips is speed. When I'm on a highway with a speed limit of 65 - 70 mph, my mpg is in the high 40s. Another problem is urban areas with stop signs or stop lights on every corner. It's not as bad as my Gen 2 on those trips but still under 40 mpg.

    No, much of my mileage is on the interstate system at about 72 MPH. I do run my tires at 42(F)/40(R) PSI.

    We have discussed previously that overly slow acceleration hurt MPG even more than fast acceleration.

    How’s the terrain in where you drive, mostly flat?
    I drive in huge windy mountainous terrain in Inland Northwest

    In my experience, urban driving provides better mileage for my 2020 Prius AWD XLE than high way driving is.

    Urban I can get upwards to about 48 to 50 MPG.

    But I don't drive that often. I'm doing something at the moment that has me more at 36/37 MPG, but I'll put it back to 39/40 soon enough.

    If I read the OM correctly, the displayed range is based on fairly current mpg (within minutes), while your odometer mpg is just that, averaging all the times you drive in an intelligent manner, and the times you drive in a less intelligent manner (ie: ignoring the laws of physics and then wondering why you get bad gas mileage).
    The distance to empty is one of the most useless bits of info these cars provide.

    I wouldn't even be able to find Distance-To-Empty on ours (3rd gen). If I'm trying to determine when to get gas, there's the gas gauge, lol. And if you're trying to determine your mpg, one of the trip meters reset when you fill up will give you a "rosy" estimate, invariably optimistic, anywhere between 5~10%. For semi-accurate, lopping 7% off what it tells you is pretty good. For accurate: distance-traveled-divided-by-gallons-pumped works. Liters per 100 kms is slightly more convoluted.

    Hills/mountains here in the Northeast, but winds, not so much except when there is a "Noreaster" (not when driving).
