Tbh I had hoped the first gas station just had weird nozzles on their gas pumps. I've never paid attention to the nozzles before, other than to avoid any that did not have the rubber gasket and to notice that the ones at Wawa are a different shape that did not fit all the way in with my old car.

I had to go to a dealership that is 70 miles from my home in the middle of nowhere in order to find the car I wanted. So if I have to take this to a dealer for help it will not be the one that sold me the car; I suppose they'll be obligated to look at it but will probably think I am just an idiot who doesn't know how to pump gas.

any dealer will cover a warranty, but if they don't find anything, they might charge you.

Which is why I am posting here. Am I the only person having this problem? Are most people refueling at gas pumps with the same nozzle design and the nozzles fit just fine? If so I need to take it to a dealer. If not then what am I doing wrong?

If you can wait a few days I will be filling up and can tell you what happens. Only had to do it once so far and didn’t have a problem.

I just filled up (Shell station, Northwest Illinois), and found the nozzle matched your picture. I could insert it, but the rubber gasket was about an inch or so short of touching the black guard on the switch to the right of the tank inlet (so no where near sealing against the inlet). The nozzle itself seemed to stop at that point in the neck and I didn’t try pushing it in further. Had no problem with filling, took just over 7 gallons and detected no odor.
Sorry I didn’t think to take a picture.
Are you trying to make the nozzle seal against the tank inlet?

My car is not the same Gen4 model as yours. It is Prius Prime, but I have not had any problem inserting the gas nozzle into the filler. I am just curious when you say that the nozzle does not fit, do you mean the nozzle goes in and stops at the enlarged portion of the nozzle (red arrow) shown in your photo, or does not insert even that far?

I will have to look at the gas nozzle at the gas station I usually use, but from your picture, it seems that the enlarged portion of the nozzle is meant to stop inserting it further down into the filler neck on purpose.
