My multifunction display went dark while I was driving and did a self reboot. Knocked out the audio which was tuned to Sirius. Sorry if I’m repeating an issue. Saw similar threads but not here in the Prime forums.
    Have there been any answers?
    Thanks!

Just happened to me last night for the first time in my 2017 Prius Prime Premium with aprox 13,000 miles on it, has the 11.5 inch multimedia display. I was going in reverse, backing into my garage, at the same time I turned off my headlights. Suddenly the radio turned off. I thought I had just lost the radio signal (it was just the radio, not xm), then I heard the music of the start up menu. I thought for a second the car had turned off and was restarting, but I was still moving and the back-up camera WAS displayed on the display, even though underneath it was obviously restarting. So weird. Really scared me. Lots of posts I've read say its a software bug with the usb or blutooth. But I did NOT have any usb plugged in and I have NEVER even set up my blutooth because of all the problems I've read about. I don't even have Entune set up either.

    Sounds like a warranty issue.

I traded in an excellent 2016 Prius2 where everything worked for a 2020 Prius Prime XLE in March 2020 and have regretted it since. Since the first month, every month the Head unit reboots WHILE I AM DRIVING once or twice a month within a minute or two of starting. It only seems to happen on the first or second start of the day when it happens. I have repeatedly reported this to the dealer and now have an open case with Toyota. More info for those thinking that they may have the same issue:

I do NOT have any of the over-the-air services like Sirius, emergency reporting, etc (none offer Korean Pop oldies from the 1960s, 70s or 80s) but listen to MP3s I prepare on a USB stick. The last thing they wanted me to try was to not use USB so I switched to Bluetooth on a Samsung S10 (until the battery blew up) then a Toshiba phone. After nearly a month (it's not consistent on the day) the head unit again rebooted on the second start of the day. I reported it again and was given a new Toyota case number and a real person has now contacted me. They want me to bring in the car (with USB and phone) so they can reboot the head unit and look at it.

QUESTION: Does anyone know if Toyota uses over-the-air for any software updated, status reports or anything else that interfaces the software in the car with any radio interaction with the outside world? I have a hypothesis that I am investigating that a once-a month (or more frequent) such action is taking place and that, since I don't subscribe to any of the services, this is triggering a reboot. Furthermore, if this is the case that the update/query occurs and that it is triggered on the next vehicle start, that this would explain why the reboot only happens on the first (if the event was prepared the day before) or second (if the event was prepared on the first) start of the day. The Toyota case manager on this case did not know and has not gotten the answer as of today.

I don't know about anyone else, but I didn't pay for a car where a component doesn't perform predictably and consistently. Now if they would only allow cover art to be displayed without requiring the parking brake to be on :-(
